Sony Group will not exhibit at CES 2027, ending a nearly 60-year run at the Las Vegas show. A company spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg that neither Sony nor its affiliates plan to take a booth in January, following an earlier Nikkei report.

Sony said it “continuously and strategically evaluate[s] our approach to events and communications based on the needs and priorities of our diverse business.” The company is putting more weight on entertainment, intellectual property, and technology for creators—games, film, music, and anime—rather than using CES as a broad consumer-electronics stage.

The move is consistent with how Sony already showed up in 2026. There was no standalone Sony Group booth. The only major presence was Sony Honda Mobility’s Afeela EV display. That joint-venture vehicle program was later canceled, and the two companies said they would reassess the partnership.

For the 12-volt trade, the practical takeaway is limited. CES has long been more important to OEM infotainment, sensors, and branded factory audio than to independent aftermarket dealers. Sony’s U.S. Mobile ES and car-audio channel still operates through distributors; this announcement is about a trade-show calendar, not a stated change to North American aftermarket product or dealer support.

It also means CES is unlikely to be the venue for a PlayStation hardware reveal next January. Any next-console or accessory news would have to come through other channels.

Sony said it will keep working with the Consumer Technology Association, which runs CES. Whether the company returns in a later year was left open.
